THE NEW COVENANT CHURCH
Now before we get cranking into the scripture
real good let’s take a look at this time
chart. If you read the other articles that we have you saw about
the covenant
of circumcision how that it was an everlasting covenant. You will
notice this on the time chart at the bottom with an arrow pointing into
eternity. If you remember, the covenant dictates that an uncircumcised
person could not be partaker with the circumcision. In Genesis 17 it
says,
“13 He that is born in thy house,
and he that is bought with thy money, MUST needs be circumcised: and
my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin
is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath
broken my covenant.”
And how long is everlasting? It never stops.
In Matthew 16:18 it says,
“18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and
upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it.”
So we see that the Lord is talking about building a church. Obviously
it is not the same church that was in the wilderness, but rather a new
one. So what we are going to do is go into the details of this church
and see what they have in Christ Jesus.
On the chart we see Daniel’s 69th and 70th weeks. Most of you
already know that the 69th and 70th weeks were divided by the dispensation
of grace, but for right now for the purpose of understanding the new
covenant church, we will leave the dispensation of grace and the one
new man off of this chart so the two will not be confused. When the
time comes we will switch to this
chart to show the dispensation of grace and the one new man, but
right now we want to focus on the new covenant church, so we are going
to stick with the first
chart.
In Jeremiah chapter 31 it says,
“31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will
make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of
Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the
day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt;
which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith
the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their
inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and
they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man
his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from
the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will
forgive their iniquity, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SIN NO MORE.”
Now we all know that the shedding of Christ’s blood will make
this covenant possible, but notice what the covenant says,
“…I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SIN NO MORE”
This is the promise of the new covenant, that God will remember their
sin no more. There will be a time when God will remember their sin no
more. This did not take place at the cross, but as mentioned, the cross
does make this promise possible. This promise that the Lord will remember
their sin no more takes place when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back
to this earth.
We also mentioned that when the Lord comes back, they won’t have
to teach every man his neighbor and every man his brother to know the
Lord, for they will all know him. Today we still have to teach people
to know the Lord.
In Daniel chapter 9 it says,
“24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon
thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins,
and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting
righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint
the most Holy.”
Daniel had prayed to the Lord about his people the Jews and the Lord
sent Gabriel to tell him what was going to happen to the Jews. The seventy
weeks deal with Israel, not the Gentiles. This prophecy was about the
Jews.
At the end of the 70th week this is what is going to happen:
…To FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION…
…to make an END OF SINS…
…to make RECONCILIATION FOR INIQUITY…
…to BRING IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS…
…to SEAL UP THE VISION AND PROPHECY…
…and to ANOINT THE MOST HOLY.
These things were not accomplished at the end of the 69th week, but
the blood that was shed at the end of the 69th week will make it possible
for all these things to be fulfilled at the end of the 70th week as
the prophecy indicates.
In Luke 21 the Lord Jesus Christ tells the church,
“27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a
cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift
up your heads; for your REDEMPTION draweth nigh.”
There are 2 things that I want you to notice here, first the Lord is
talking about some believers here that will be going through the tribulation.
Who are they? The new covenant church. (More about this later) Second,
when will they get their redemption? When the Lord comes back. When
Christ died on the cross he obtained eternal redemption for them. In
Hebrews 9 it says,
“12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his
own blood he entered in once into the holy place, HAVING OBTAINED ETERNAL
REDEMPTION FOR US.”
This eternal redemption is part of their eternal inheritance. In Hebrews
9 again it says,
“15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament,
that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that
were under the first testament, they which are called MIGHT RECEIVE
THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL INHERITANCE.”
This eternal inheritance is reserved in heaven for them, and it will
be brought to them and they will receive it when the Lord Jesus Christ
comes back to this earth. In 1st Peter chapter 1 it says,
“4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and
that fadeth not away, RESERVED IN HEAVEN for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto SALVATION ready
to be revealed in the LAST TIME.
The author of Hebrews also tells us that they will receive their salvation
when the Lord comes back. In Chapter 9 it says,
“28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for him shall he appear the SECOND time without
sin unto SALVATION.”
Back in Acts chapter 2&3 Peter is preaching the new covenant unto
the Jews. Notice what he says in 2:38.
“38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the REMISSION OF SINS,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
And now in starting in 3:19,
“19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, THAT YOUR SINS
MAY BE BLOTTED OUT, when the times of refreshing shall come from the
PRESENCE OF THE LORD;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until THE TIMES OF RESTITUTION OF ALL
THINGS, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets
since the world began.”
He tells them that their sins will be remitted when they repent and
get baptized and completely blotted out when the Lord comes back, also
when he comes back, this will be the times of restitution of all things
just like it says in Daniel chapter 9.
And that’s not all, in Romans 11 Paul tells us,
“26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,
There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness
from Jacob:
27 For this is my COVENANT unto them, WHEN I SHALL TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.”
The Jews in the new covenant church are sanctified by the blood of the
covenant, but that does not mean that God WILL REMEMBER THEIR SIN NO
MORE. This will not occur until the Lord comes back, then they will
get their redemption, their sins blotted out, and the rest of their
eternal inheritance. All these things that the Lord has reserved in
heaven for them they will get at the second coming of Christ. This is
when God will remember their sin no more.
Therefore we do not put the new covenant starting at the cross but rather
at the second coming of Christ as all of the above scriptures indicate.
But I also want to add one more time that the Blood that Jesus shed
will make all these things possible.
In Isaiah 46 it says,
“12 Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from
righteousness:
13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation
shall not tarry: and I will place SALVATION in Zion FOR ISRAEL my glory.”
Notice here that he will place SALVATION in Zion FOR ISRAEL. So what
we have so far is the new covenant will be for Israel and salvation
will be for Israel.
In Malachi 3:1 it says,
“Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare
the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to
his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in:
behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Jesus quotes this verse in Matthew 11 and refers it to John the Baptist,
so we know that John is the messenger of the covenant. Which covenant?
The new covenant. In Luke chapter 16 it says,
“16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that
time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
When John came on the scene the offering of the kingdom started. As
you know this kingdom that he is referring to is the heavenly kingdom
which will be brought to earth at the second coming of Christ. Jesus
said in Matthew 6,
“10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it
is in heaven.”
The start of this kingdom is also the start of the new covenant. This
will be when Israel’s sin will be completely blotted out and God
will remember their sin no more. John preached in Matthew 3, it says,
“2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is
at hand.”
Jesus said in Matthew 4,
“17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,
Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
And Jesus told the twelve to go and preach in chapter 10,
“7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven
is at hand.”
So John, Jesus, and the twelve all preached the same thing. We already
stated that Jesus told them that they would get their redemption when
he returns and Peter told them that they would get their sins blotted
out also at the second coming. They are offering Israel the new covenant
which will be at the start of the kingdom or you can say they are offering
Israel the kingdom which will be at the start of the new covenant. Whatever
floats your boat.
Please understand that the new covenant is for Jews only just as Jeremiah
said. In Matthew 10 it says,
“5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them,
saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the
Samaritans enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
In Matthew 15 it says,
“24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the
lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
In John 4 it says,
“22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship:
for salvation is of the Jews.”
And Paul said in Romans 9,
“4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption,
and the glory, and the COVENANTS, and the giving of the law, and the
service of God, and the promises;
5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ
came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.”
Christ came for Israel. Why did Jesus tell them to only go to Israel?
Because Israel is being offered the new covenant which was promised
to them, not the Gentiles.
So what we have on out time chart thus far is:
We show the everlasting covenant of circumcision. (Pink)
We show Daniel’s 69th and 70th week, which is determined upon
Israel.
We show the start of the kingdom and new covenant.
We show the second coming of Christ.
We show the offering of the new covenant. (Orange)
We show the new covenant church. (Blue)
If you also noticed we put the cross at the 14th day of the first month
of the 483rd year of Daniel’s 69th week. If you need to see my
reasoning for doing so please read this article on Daniel’s
69th Week.
I put the start of the church at the cross or the giving of the Holy
Spirit, which ever you prefer, it doesn’t matter to me as long
as you see it did start.
Now, let’s get into some of the nitty gritty in the holy scriptures.
THE NEW COVENANT CHURCH WILL GO THROUGH THE TRIBULATION.
Please do not confuse this with the one new man, which will be raptured
outta here before the tribulation.
In Matthew 24 it says,
“15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth,
let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing
out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck
in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the
sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning
of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh
be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Who are these believers that are going to see the abomination of desolation?
They are the new covenant church, Jews only.
Once again in Luke 21 it says,
“27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a
cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift
up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Once again, the new covenant church will see the Lord coming back at
the end of the tribulation.
In Revelation 13 it talks about the antichrist, in verse 7 it says,
“7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints,
and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and
tongues, and nations.”
Who are these saints that the antichrist will make war with and overcome
them? They are the new covenant church.
ENDURING UNTO THE END & WORKS
Because Israel’s (the new covenant church) works are involved
with their salvation, they must endure unto the end in order to be saved.
Seeing so many of these scriptures go hand in hand we will group the
enduring unto the end and works verses together. Paul said in Romans
3,
“30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision
BY faith, and uncircumcision THROUGH faith.
Paul states a difference between the justification of the circumcision
and the justification of the uncircumcision. The circumcision will be
justified BY faith (associated with their works as it says in James)
and the uncircumcision will be justified THROUGH faith (by grace through
faith as it says in Ephesians).
In Matthew 24 the Lord told them,
“ 13 But he that shall ENDURE UNTO THE END, the same shall
be saved.”
If they did not endure unto the end they would not be saved, in other
words the eternal life which is in Christ that he will be giving the
new covenant church when he comes back, they will not receive it.
The new covenant church has to endure unto the end, hold fast, overcome,
keep faith, always believe, abide, do good works, live righteously and
not fall away.
In Hebrews 3 it says,
“6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house
are we, if we HOLD FAST THE CONFIDENCE and the rejoicing of the hope
firm UNTO THE END.
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of
UNBELIEF, in DEPARTING FROM THE LIVING GOD.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of
our confidence STEDFAST UNTO THE END;”
In Hebrews 4,
“11 Let us LABOUR therefore to enter into that rest, lest
any man FALL after the same example of UNBELIEF.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into
the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us HOLD FAST our profession.”
Hebrews 5,
“9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal
salvation unto all them that OBEY him;”
Hebrews 6,
“4 For it is IMPOSSIBLE for those who were ONCE ENLIGHTENED,
and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and WERE MADE PARTAKERS OF THE
HOLY GHOST,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world
to come,
6 If they shall FALL AWAY, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing
they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an
open shame.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to
the FULL ASSURANCE OF HOPE UNTO THE END:
12 That ye be NOT SLOTHFUL, but followers of them who THROUGH FAITH
AND PATIENCE INHERIT THE PROMISES.
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God
to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge
to LAY HOLD upon the HOPE SET BEFORE US:”
Hebrews 10,
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge
of the truth, there remaineth NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of JUDGMENT AND FIERY INDIGNATION,
which shall DEVOUR THE ADVERSARIES.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three
witnesses:
29 Of how much SORER PUNISHMENT, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy,
who hath TRODDEN UNDER FOOT THE SON OF GOD, and hath COUNTED THE BLOOD
OF THE COVENANT, wherewith he WAS sanctified, AN UNHOLY THING, and hath
done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
35 CAST NOT AWAY therefore your CONFIDENCE, which hath great recompence
of reward.
36 For ye have need of PATIENCE, that, AFTER YE HAVE DONE THE WILL OF
GOD, YE MIGHT RECEIVE THE PROMISE.
38 Now the just shall live by FAITH: but if any man DRAW BACK, my soul
shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who DRAW BACK UNTO PERDITION; but of them
that BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL.
Hebrews 12,
“14 Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which
no man shall see the Lord:”
James 2,
“14 What doth it profit, my brethren, THOUGH A MAN SAY
HE HATH FAITH, AND HAVE NOT WORKS? CAN FAITH SAVE HIM?
17 EVEN SO FAITH, IF IT HATH NOT WORKS, IS DEAD, BEING ALONE.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, THAT FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD?
21 Was not Abraham our father JUSTIFIED BY WORKS, when he had offered
Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and BY WORKS was faith
made perfect?
24 YE SEE THEN HOW THAT BY WORKS A MAN IS JUSTIFIED, AND NOT BY FAITH
ONLY.
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS
IS DEAD ALSO."
1st Peter 4,
“18 And if the RIGHTEOUS scarcely be saved, where shall
the UNGODLY and the SINNER appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God COMMIT
the keeping of their souls to him in WELL DOING, as unto a faithful
Creator.”
2nd Peter 2,
“20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, THEY
ARE AGAIN ENTANGLED THEREIN, AND OVERCOME, THE LATTER END IS WORSE WITH
THEM THAN THE BEGINNING.
21 FOR IT HAD BEEN BETTER FOR THEM NOT TO HAVE KNOWN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
THAN, AFTER THEY HAVE KNOWN IT, TO TURN FROM THE HOLY COMMANDMENT DELIVERED
UNTO THEM.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog
is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her
wallowing in the mire.
2nd Peter 3,
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye also, being LED AWAY with the error of the wicked, FALL
FROM YOUR OWN STEDFASTNESS.
1st John 2,
“17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
BUT HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF GOD ABIDETH FOR EVER.
24 Let that therefore ABIDE IN YOU, which ye have heard from the beginning.
IF THAT WHICH YE HAVE HEARD FROM THE BEGINNING SHALL REMAIN IN YOU,
YE ALSO SHALL CONTINUE IN THE SON, AND IN THE FATHER.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce
you.
27 BUT THE ANOINTING WHICH YE HAVE RECEIVED OF HIM ABIDETH IN YOU, and
ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth
you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath
taught you, YE SHALL ABIDE IN HIM.
28 And now, little children, ABIDE IN HIM; that, when he shall appear,
we may have CONFIDENCE, and NOT BE ASHAMED before him at his coming.”
1st John 5,
By the way, since we are in 1st John 5, let’s go to verse 11,
“11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us
eternal life, AND THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON.
12 HE THAT HATH THE SON HATH LIFE; AND HE THAT HATH NOT THE SON OF GOD
HATH NOT LIFE.”
Did John say, “this life is in us”? No He said that this
life is in Jesus Christ, and if you have him you have life and if you
don’t have him you don’t have life.
This is why the new covenant church had to abide in Christ because this
is where eternal life is. It is not in the believer, it is in Christ.
Four verses later John says,
“16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not
unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin
not unto death. THERE IS A SIN UNTO DEATH: I do not say that he shall
pray for it.”
And what is this sin unto death? Hebrews 10: 26-29 Counting the blood
of the covenant, wherewith he WAS sanctified an unholy thing. Once a
believer did this there remaineth no more sacrifice for his sin. He
is history because he did not endure unto the end.
1st John 5:11-13 are not eternal security passages. They state that
eternal life is in Jesus Christ. This eternal redemption is reserved
in heaven for them and will be brought unto them at the second coming
of Christ and they will receive it if the endure unto the end, as so
many verses of scripture indicate.
Let’s continue in Jude verse 21,
“21 KEEP YOURSELVES IN THE LOVE OF GOD, looking for the
mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ UNTO ETERNAL LIFE.
As we get into the book of Revelation, please understand that the seven
churches of Asia did exist at one time. These are not futuristic churches,
but they were Jewish Churches. Please don’t confuse them with
the Gentile churches. Let’s go ahead and give a few verses to
show these churches existed at one time.
Revelation 1
The Lord told John through his angel to write the things down that he
saw and deliver them to the seven churches.
"11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:
and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches
which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos,
and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto
Laodicea."
Did John say, “What churches?’ Or did he do it.
"4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace
be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which
is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;"
John wrote it and sent it.
In 2:13 it says,
“13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied
my faith, EVEN IN THOSE DAYS WHEREIN ANTIPAS WAS MY FAITHFUL MARTYR,
WHO WAS SLAIN AMONG YOU, WHERE SATAN DWELLETH."
Did Antipas die? Yes he did, and he also existed.
In verses 20 and 21,
“20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee,
because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess,
to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat
things sacrificed unto idols.
21 AND I GAVE HER SPACE TO REPENT OF HER FORNICATION; and she repented
not.”
Did the Lord give her space to repent of her fornication? He says he
did.
The future things don’t start until chapter four. Verse one says,
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in
heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet
talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things
which must be hereafter.”
So chapters 1,2 & 3 are not future things, but rather written to
the Jews in the new covenant church.
In chapter 2 unto the church of Ephesus he writes,
“2 I know thy WORKS, and thy LABOUR, and thy PATIENCE,
and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried
them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3 And hast borne, and hast PATIENCE, and for my name's sake hast LABOURED,
and HAST NOT FAINTED.
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left
thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and REPENT, and do
the FIRST WORKS; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove
thy candlestick out of his place, except thou REPENT.
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that OVERCOMETH will I give to eat of the TREE OF LIFE, which
is in the midst of the paradise of God.”
Unto Smyrna he writes:
“9 I know thy WORKS, and tribulation, and poverty, (but
thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil
shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall
have tribulation ten days: BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH, AND I WILL GIVE
THEE A CROWN OF LIFE.
11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches; HE THAT OVERCOMETH SHALL NOT BE HURT OF THE SECOND DEATH.”
Unto Pergamos he writes:
“13 I know thy WORKS, and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan's seat is: and thou HOLDEST FAST MY NAME, and HAST NOT DENIED
MY FAITH, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr,
who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the
churches; To him that OVERCOMETH will I give to eat of the hidden manna,
and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written,
which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”
Unto Thyatira he writes:
“19 I know thy WORKS, AND CHARITY, AND SERVICE, AND FAITH,
AND THY PATIENCE, AND THY WORKS; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest
that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and
to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed
unto idols.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall
know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: AND I WILL GIVE
UNTO EVERY ONE OF YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR WORKS.
25 But that which ye have already HOLD FAST TILL I COME.
26 And he that OVERCOMETH, and KEEPETH MY WORKS UNTO THE END, to him
will I give power over the nations:”
Unto the church of Sardis he writes: (chapter 3)
“And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These
things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars;
I KNOW THY WORKS, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready
to die: for I HAVE NOT FOUND THY WORKS PERFECT BEFORE GOD.
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, AND HOLD FAST,
and REPENT. IF THEREFORE THOU SHALT NOT WATCH, I WILL COME ON THEE AS
A THIEF, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis WHICH HAVE NOT DEFILED THEIR
GARMENTS; and they shall walk with me in white: FOR THEY ARE WORTHY.
5 He that OVERCOMETH, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; AND
I WILL NOT BLOT OUT HIS NAME OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE, but I will confess
his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Unto Philadelphia he writes:
8 I know thy WORKS: behold, I have set before thee an open door,
and no man can shut it: FOR THOU HAST A LITTLE STRENGTH, AND HAST KEPT
MY WORD, AND HAST NOT DENIED MY NAME.
10 BECAUSE THOU HAST KEPT THE WORD OF MY PATIENCE, I also will keep
thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world,
to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: HOLD THAT FAST WHICH THOU HAST, THAT NO MAN
TAKE THY CROWN.
12 Him that OVERCOMETH will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my
God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which
cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my
new name.
And finally unto the Laodiceans he writes:
15 I know thy WORKS, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would
thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I WILL
SPUE THEE OUT OF MY MOUTH.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have
need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable,
and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest
be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the
shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve,
that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and
REPENT.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,
and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and
he with me.
21 To him that OVERCOMETH will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Now back to the time chart.
You will notice on the time chart that you will find Matthew through
John, the first part of the book of Acts, and Hebrews through Revelation.
This is where you will find the doctrine for the new covenant church.
You will notice that Paul’s epistles, Romans – Philemon
are missing. This is because Romans – Philemon is the doctrine
for the one new man, which is different from the doctrine of the new
covenant church.
There are a lot of things in Hebrews – Revelation that you can
use for general application but you can’t take the doctrine for
the Jews and apply it to the Gentiles for the dispensation of grace,
it just won’t work. The same goes for Paul’s epistles; general
application for the new covenant church, OK, but you can’t take
the doctrine for the Gentiles during the dispensation of grace and apply
it to the Jews’ new covenant church, it just doesn’t match.
These things must be rightly divided or confusion will be the end result.
THE RESURRECTION OF THE NEW COVENANT CHURCH
Unlike the one new man, which will be raptured out of here before the
tribulation, the new covenant church will receive their resurrection
at the second coming of Christ which will be the last day. In John 6
it says,
“39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me,
that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should
raise it up again at THE LAST DAY.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, THAT EVERY ONE WHICH SEETH
THE SON, AND BELIEVETH ON HIM, may have everlasting life: and I will
raise him up at THE LAST DAY.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw
him: and I will raise him up at THE LAST DAY.
54 WHOSO EATETH MY FLESH, AND DRINKETH MY BLOOD, HATH ETERNAL LIFE;
and I will raise him up at THE LAST DAY.
In John 11 it says,
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again IN
THE RESURRECTION AT THE LAST DAY.
When the Lord comes back to this earth, the new covenant church, Israel,
will receive their resurrection, this is the last day.
There are many, many other scriptures that we could put here that deal
with the new covenant church, but these should be enough to show what
they have in Christ Jesus. In one of our topics to come, “The
One New Man”, we will show the similarities and the differences
between the New Covenant Church and the One New Man. This
chart will give you a sneak preview of what is to come.
