The 7000 Years
In the holy scriptures, the Lord indicates that he will deal with man
on this earth for 7000 years before he creates a new heaven and new
earth. In Genesis chapters 1 and 2 it tells us how the Lord created
the heaven and the earth in six days and rested the seventh day. In
Genesis 2 it says,
“ 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he
had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he
had made.”
So we see here that God worked for 6 days and rested the seventh day.
In 2nd Peter chapter 3, it says,
“8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that
one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as
one day.”
So what we are going to do is take the Lord at his word and take the
one day as a thousand years and put it on this time
chart.
As you can see on the chart, we have the six days of work, the creation,
and we also have the seventh day of rest. We also have a thousand years
assigned to each day giving us a total of seven thousand years. Underneath
the seven thousand years you will notice the word, “work”.
The Lord is working upon this Earth today as we look in Romans 9,
“28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness:
because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.”
So we can start to see that the Lord is working upon this Earth today,
but there will be a time of rest also. First let’s go to Exodus
23 and see what the resting was for.
“12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh
day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son
of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.”
Notice how the resting was for a purpose, so that the body could be
refreshed. Now from the holy scriptures we know that when the Lord comes
back to this Earth there will be a 1000 year Kingdom before the new
heaven and earth are created. This is commonly referred to as the millennial
reign of Christ. During this 1000 year reign it will also be the Lord’s
rest. In Isaiah chapter 11 it gives us a little info about how this
reign will be and in verse 10 it says,
“10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which
shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek:
and his REST shall be glorious.”
Notice it refers to this time as his rest. In Acts chapter 3, Peter
is preaching to the Jews about their salvation. Starting in verse 19
it says,
“19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins
may be blotted out, when the TIMES OF REFRESHING shall come from the
presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all
things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets
since the world began.”
When the Lord comes back to this earth, this 1000 year reign will be
known as the times of refreshing. In Hebrews chapter 4 it talks about
the people obtaining a rest which they have not received yet in verse
9 it says,
“9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”
So what we have is that the last 1000 years is known as a time of rest
and also a time of refreshing which lines up perfectly with the seventh
day of rest on our chart.
Now before we get into the number of the years let’s strengthen
the seven thousand year chart by trying it with more scripture. As we
get into the numbers you will see that Jesus was born 4000 years after
Adam was created and he died about 33 years later. This gives us a total
of 4033 years from the creation of Adam until the death of Christ. With
this in mind, let’s make another chart but make it a 10,000
year chart.
As you can see on this chart we divided the 10,000 years in half so
each half shows 5000 years each. We started at the beginning of the
chart and went forward 4033 years and marked it with the cross. At the
bottom of the chart we put the First Times and Last Times in their appropriate
sections and we put the Beginning of the World and the End of the World
in their appropriate sections. Now let’s go to the scripture.
In 1st Peter chapter 1 it says,
“20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation
of the world, but was manifest in these LAST TIMES for you,”
When was Jesus made manifest? In these LAST TIMES. Now let’s go
to Hebrews chapter 9, which says,
“26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation
of the world: but now once in the END OF THE WORLD hath he appeared
to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
Notice here the bible says that he came in the END OF THE WORLD. Now
when we look on the 10,000 year chart we can see that Christ did not
come in the last times or the end of the world. The 10,000 year chart
breaks scripture which can’t be done. Now let’s try this
7000 year chart.
On this chart we also separate the time in to two halves which gives
us 3500 years in each half. When we start at the beginning and put the
cross 4033 later you can easily see that it falls in the second half
which puts Christ dying in the last times and in the end of the world,
which lines up perfectly with all the other scriptures that deal with
the seven thousand years.
OK, now it’s time to start dealing with the numbers. You can start
in the book of Genesis and go all through the bible and God gives the
number of years for all time except for the dispensation of grace. It’s
a mystery and it’s number is not revealed, but there is a way
to get it.
There are hundreds of scriptures that you have to go through to get
the number of years so we are going to make this article the short version.
In Genesis chapter 5, the Lord starts to number the years with Adam
and 130 years after Adam was created he had a son named Seth. Seth lived
105 years and he had a son named Enos. This pattern repeats itself till
you get to Abraham when he was 75 years old and God made a promise to
Abraham. From Adam to Abraham when he was 75 years old is 2083 years.
In Galatians 3:17 it tells us the promise till the law was given is
430 years. As you know the children of Israel were in the wilderness
for 40 years After this came the time of the judges in which the bible
tells us in Acts 13 that the time came to about 450 years, so we show
435 years. Then we have the Kings.
Saul reigned 40 years, David reigned 40 years and Solomon reigned 40
years. After the time of Solomon, the Jews were split into two houses
and the Kings reigned for 372 years until the time of the 70 years of
desolation. When the going forth of the commandment came it was 483
years from the going forth of the commandment till the end of the year
that Christ died. At the end of that year, Israel was cast away and
the dispensation of grace was given unto the Gentiles. After the dispensation
of grace is over, there will be a 7 year tribulation, then the Lord
will come back and reign for 1000 years.
All these numbers are listed in the bible and you can count the number
of the years from Adam till the new heaven and new earth, everything
except for the dispensation of grace. When you list them it looks like
this.
2083 Adam to the promise given to Abraham
430 Promise to the law
40 Wilderness
435 Judges
40 Saul
40 David
40 Solomon
372 Kings
70 Desolation
483 Commandment to Christ
______Dispensation of Grace
7 Tribulation
1000 Kingdom
When you add all of these up it comes to 5040 years. If you take the
7000 years that God is going to deal with man before the new heaven
and new earth and subtract the 5040 it leaves 1960 years for the dispensation
of grace.
2083 Adam to the promise given to Abraham
430 Promise to the law
40 Wilderness
435 Judges
40 Saul
40 David
40 Solomon
372 Kings
70 Desolation
483 Commandment to Christ
1960 Dispensation of Grace
7 Tribulation
1000 Kingdom
1960 is a really cool number. If you every played around with the numbers
that God uses in the holy scriptures you will see that this number has
special traits. Everyone knows the Lord’s perfect number is 7.
In the scripture he also uses the numbers 14, 40, 70, & 490.
In Matthew chapter 1, he uses the number 14 several times, it rained
40 days and 40 nights, the Lord was tempted for 40 days, the desolation
was 70 years, Jesus said to forgive 70 times 7, and from the going forth
of the commandment unto the end was 70 times 7 or 490 years.
The amazing thing about the number 1960 is that all of these numbers
can be divided into it.
1960 = 7x280 = 7x7x40
14x140 = 7x2x7x20
40x49 = 40x7x7
70x28 = 70x7x4
490x4 = 70x7x4
If the number would have been 1959 or 1961 none of these numbers would
have worked.
Now if you want to see some details let's
look at the SuperChart.
As you can see, the Lord has done an amazing job with the numbers in
this bible. With these numbers you can tell that we don’t have
much longer. But our calendar is off so don’t waste your time
trying to match up the number of years with our calendar. The Lord says
no man will know the day or the hour. But studying the numbers does
tell us the time is near. If you have any loved ones that you know that
are lost, please try to reach them as soon as possible. As my wife and
I always say, “Everyday is one day closer.”
