Local Resident Policy for the
Gulf Coast Bible Conference

Hi Everyone,

Because of past experiences with the Gulf Coast Bible Conference, we have had to make a change of policy concerning local brethren that live near Grace Bible Study.

If we had our conference in the middle of the desert, this would not even be an issue, but because we have it at a beautiful beach resort, some people try to abuse our financial aid intended to help those that could not afford to go to the conference but truly have a desire to go to the bible studies and hear the word of God.

First let us state our goal concerning supplying financial aid for our guests for the Gulf Coast Bible Conference:

It is our pleasure to try to help those people that want to attend bible study that cannot financially afford to go to our conference by providing them with rooms at no charge and to supply their meals for the duration of the conference.

In the past our policy was to invite local brethren to come to the conference in hopes that they would enjoy the bible studies and continue in bible study by coming to our weekly bible studies at Grace Bible Study. We would pay their way for their first time coming to the conference and if they decide to come to local bible study then we would continue to cover their expenses at the Gulf Coast Bible Conference if they wish to attend again.

But because there are givers and takers in this world we have had several people that try to abuse our financial aid offer. Some people try to get their hands on anything they can get for free.

So we decided it was time for a change in policy which is as follows:

Any locals willing to go to local bible study at Grace Bible Study will have the opportunity to have their room and meals covered at the Gulf Coast Bible Conference.

If you decide to go to local bible study on a regular basis and do so, your name will be added to the rooming list 2 weeks before the conference. Any local brethren that do not come to local bible study on a regular basis will not have their room and meals supplied by the Gulf Coast Bible Conference.

But do not expect to come to local bible study a week or two before the conference just to have your name added to the list for a room at no charge, that simply will not happen.

We have found that some are not willing to drive the 10-20 minutes to go to local bible study but they will drive 4 ½ hours to have an all-expense paid weekend at the beach.

These types of people simply are not interested in bible study whatsoever. They will tolerate bible study at the conference to have the all-expense paid weekend at the beach.

Therefore they are abusing what we intended and that is why we had to make a new policy.

Please understand that we have to be good stewards of the Lord’s resources that he has blessed us with.
